You are not overreacting

You may have a claim if any of this happened to you

Most people who call us start the same way: “I don’t know if this counts.” It often does. New York law protects employees, interns, contractors, and part-time workers alike.

  • A supervisor or manager made unwanted sexual comments, advances, or physical contact
  • Your job, hours, promotion, or pay were tied to a sexual demand
  • A coworker, client, vendor, or customer harassed you and your employer did nothing
  • You reported harassment to HR and were fired, demoted, sidelined, or frozen out
  • The conduct was directed at your gender, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity
  • You were harassed by someone of the same sex
  • You resigned because the work environment became impossible to stay in
  • You have documentation — texts, emails, HR complaints — and no idea what to do with it

Men and women both experience workplace sexual harassment, and most never report it. A conversation with us costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

Why Lipsky Lowe

Your employer has lawyers. You should too.

By the time you call us, your employer has usually already spoken to in-house counsel or an outside defense firm. They have a script. They have a record they have been building. We do this work from the employee’s side, and only from the employee’s side.

We prepare every sexual harassment matter as though it will be tried — which is precisely why so many of them resolve without a trial. Employers negotiate differently when the other side is ready to file.

You will work with an attorney, not a case manager. You will know where your matter stands. And you will never be pressured into a decision you are not ready to make.

What happens next

Three steps, and the first one is just a conversation

  1. You tell us what happened

A free, confidential call with an attorney. No forms to fill out first, no cost, no obligation to hire us afterward.

  2. We assess your options and your deadlines

We tell you plainly whether you have a claim, which laws apply, what filing windows are running, and what a realistic outcome looks like.

  3. We pursue it — and you decide

Agency charge, negotiation, or lawsuit. You approve every meaningful decision, including any settlement.

Time-sensitive

Sexual harassment claims don’t wait

There are legal deadlines for bringing a claim, and once one passes it can be lost no matter how strong the facts are. Evidence fades on its own timeline too — witnesses move on, accounts get deactivated, messages get wiped. The sooner you talk to an attorney, the more options tend to stay open.

The deadline that applies to you depends on where you worked, who you worked for, and what happened. The only way to know how much time you have is to ask. That conversation is free.

In their words

What clients say about working with us

They handled my case with care, discretion, confidence, and clarity, and truly went above and beyond with their attention to detail and availability to answer questions and concerns.
— Zoe F.
While many lawyers expressed interest in my case, I didn’t feel that they fully grasped its complexity. Doug, on the other hand, truly understood the gravity of the situation. I am very grateful for his thoughtful approach.
— Nat M.
He was thorough, informative, and always responsive — answering every email promptly and with care. I couldn’t have navigated the process without him.
— Charlotte M.

Common questions

What people ask before they call

What actually counts as sexual harassment at work?

Broadly, unwelcome conduct based on sex, gender, sexual orientation, or gender identity. It includes sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, touching, comments, images, and jokes. Many people assume the conduct has to be extreme before it “counts” — but New York’s protections can reach more than that, and the bar is often lower than employees expect. If it was unwelcome and it kept happening, it’s worth asking about.

Will my employer find out that I contacted a lawyer?

Not from us. Your consultation is confidential and we do not contact an employer without discussing it with you first. Many people call us long before they have decided to do anything, simply to understand their options.

Can I be fired for reporting harassment?

Retaliating against an employee for reporting harassment in good faith is itself unlawful under federal, New York State, and New York City law. Retaliation can look like termination, but also demotion, schedule changes, exclusion, or a sudden negative performance review. If it happened after you complained, tell us — the retaliation claim is sometimes stronger than the underlying harassment claim.

What does it cost to hire you?

We handle most workplace sexual harassment matters on a contingency-fee basis: you pay no attorney’s fee unless we obtain a recovery for you. Clients may still be responsible for case costs and expenses, which are separate from attorney’s fees. All fee terms are set out in a written retainer agreement before we begin.

I already left the job. Is it too late?

Not necessarily. You do not have to still be employed to bring a claim, and in some circumstances being forced to resign is itself actionable. Deadlines do apply, however, and they run from when the conduct occurred — not from when you left. That is worth a phone call.

I don’t have proof. Does that end it?

No. These cases are rarely decided on a single document. Testimony, patterns of conduct, HR records, coworker accounts, and how your employer responded all matter. Bring what you have — even if that is nothing but your own account — and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot do with it.

Ready to talk? We’re ready to listen.

You do not need to have your story organized. You do not need documents. You do not need to have decided anything. You just need to start the conversation.
