Here are three signs that you may be working for a bad manager.

Hi, my name is Doug Lipsky. I am an employment attorney.

The first sign is selfishness. A bad manager focuses only on themselves and their own success rather than helping employees grow and advance within the company. Conversations with them tend to revolve around their priorities rather than your development.

The second sign is poor communication. Employees should feel comfortable speaking with their managers about concerns, feedback, or ideas. When a manager shuts down communication or discourages employees from speaking up, it harms the working relationship and the overall workplace environment.

The third sign is a lack of flexibility. A bad manager may refuse to consider new ideas unless they are their own. They may resist change, ignore input from employees, and remain rigid instead of adapting or listening to others.
